#1 tip to find cheap flights from NYC

Looking for cheap flight deals from New York City? This is a game-changer: Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights).

Here’s the deal: Sign up for free email alerts, set your departure and destination, and boom – you’ll get alerts for insanely cheap flights. Mistake fares? Deep discounts? They’ve got it all.

I’ve saved thousands using Going. Recently, I even found a $699 roundtrip fare from JFK to Bali in May. I’ve also seen $299 roundtrip tickets from EWR to Paris. Not bad!

Want even more deals? Their $49/year premium version is well worth it- just one discounted flight pays for the whole thing. And if you’re into business/first class, you’ll want to sign up for their Elite version, which saved me over $5,000 in 2023 alone. Trust me, it’s a small price for massive savings.

Now, let’s dive into the 16 cheapest destinations from NYC in 2024.

Other considerations when finding cheap places to fly from New York City

To find the cheapest places to fly from NYC, I focused on major airports in North America, South America, and Europe. Sure, you can occasionally find flight deals to other continents. However, more likely than not, these destinations will have the cheapest fares and are the most accessible from NYC.

Note that flight prices from NYC can vary immensely throughout the year. For example, a flight to Florida will cost more in the winter than the summer. If you’re looking to visit Europe, you’re better off visiting during the off-season, which is typically between Jan-April. Though the price of a roundtrip fare may looks different, the cheapest destinations from NYC should remain the same, regardless of when you’re flying.

For the purposes of this article, I removed nearby destinations from this list. This includes cities like Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Buffalo, which have cheap flight deals from New York, but are within driving distance. Instead, I focused on flights from NYC to anywhere around the world.

From domestic to international flights, here are the 15 cheapest places to fly from JFK in 2024.

These cheap NYC flights should be on your radar

1. New York to Charleston, SC ($94 roundtrip)

Looking for cheap NYC flights? Add Charleston, South Carolina to your bucket list. It’s a 2-hour flight by plane, but it feels world’s apart as a much more compact and charming city.

Prices for flights from New York to Charleston can vary greatly depending on the time of year, with flights in the peak tourist season often being more expensive. Prices can also vary depending on which airline you choose and how far in advance you book your ticket. Some of the airlines that offer non-stop flights from New York to Charleston include American Airlines, Delta, and United.

The best time to visit Charleston depends on your personal preferences, but I enjoy visiting in the spring or fall when the weather is mild and there are fewer crowds. The summer months can be hot and humid, while the winter can be cool and damp.

Charleston is worth visiting for its rich history, beautiful beaches, and charming southern atmosphere. The city is known for its antebellum mansions, historic churches, and cobblestone streets. It was even named the “World’s Best City” by Travel + Leisure in 2016. The city is also home to a thriving food scene, with many excellent restaurants serving southern cuisine and seafood. In addition to its history and culture, Charleston is also a gateway to nearby natural attractions such as the Francis Marion National Forest and the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge.

With its accessibility and so much to see, this is easily one of the top cheap flights from New York.

2. New York to Toronto, Canada ($213 roundtrip)

Toronto is another one of the cheapest trips from NYC. It’s only a one-hour flight by plane, and there are several non-stop flights each day with airlines like Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta, and Porter Airlines.

For me, summer is the best time to visit Toronto (and Canada, in general) due to the warmer weather. However, the city is also a great destination in the fall, when the leaves are changing color, and in the winter, when the city is transformed into a winter wonderland. The best deals you’ll find online are from January through March.

Toronto is a great destination to visit for its multicultural atmosphere, world-class museums and cultural institutions, and vibrant music and arts scene. The city is home to a diverse population, with more than half of its residents being immigrants, and this diversity is reflected in its food, arts, and culture.

Toronto is also home to a number of world-class attractions, including the CN Tower, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Art Gallery of Ontario. In addition to its cultural and nightlife attractions, Toronto is also a gateway to the stunning natural beauty of Ontario, with the Niagara Falls and the Muskoka Lakes region just a short drive away. With so much to see and do, you’re in luck that Toronto is a cheap flight from NYC.

3. NYC to Barcelona ($269 roundtrip)

Looking for cheap trips from NYC outside of the country? Barcelona emerges as a budget-friendly destination for New Yorkers, especially with LEVEL’s affordable flights.

January is the golden month for snagging deals, with Momondo highlighting a $281 round-trip average. I’ve seen roundtrip fares as low as $190 with special seasonal promotions. Be sure to sign up for Scott’s Cheap Flights premium version to get access to deal alerts when they become available!

LEVEL’s competitive pricing plays a big role. They offer direct flights from New York (JFK) to Barcelona (BCN), taking about 7 hours and 45 minutes. There are two direct flights daily, making it convenient and cost-effective.

New York City’s three airports – JFK, Newark Liberty (EWR), and LaGuardia (LGA) – all offer flights to Barcelona. JFK has direct flights with American Airlines, Delta, and Iberia using the Boeing 777. EWR’s direct flights are with United, Lufthansa, and Norwegian Air. LGA connects through major airlines like Air Canada and British Airways.

INSIDER TIP: Again, I highly recommend signing up for Going.com (Scott’s Cheap Flights) to find the best deals. Last year, I got an email alert on a $199 roundtrip fare from NYC to BCN with LEVEL. This made it super cheap and easy to get to Europe. The premium version is 100% worth the money, but I would at least sign up for the free version to save big on airfare this year.
