9 Budget-Friendly Destinations to Fly from MSP (Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport)

by Jon Miksis

Let me tell you something about flying from MSP: those deals are out there if you know where to look. After spending way too many hours hunting down flights (and actually taking these trips myself), I’ve found some seriously amazing prices for 2026. Last month I grabbed a $220 roundtrip to Denver, where I spent mornings hiking at Garden of the Gods and afternoons eating my way through the Denver Central Market.

These are honestly the best places from Minneapolis to visit without destroying your savings. From wandering through Chicago’s Riverwalk (found tickets under $150!) to catching the sunset at San Diego’s Coronado Beach, I’ve discovered some incredible deals. Here are 9 destinations you can actually afford to fly to this year because life’s too short to let expensive flights keep you stuck in Minnesota winters.

Want to dream a little bigger? Here are bucket list destinations you can visit on a budget.

Sun Country Summer 2026 Schedule Open

Sun Country, the carrier I lean on for most of these routes, has its full summer schedule open for booking through September 8, 2026, so you can lock in nonstops out of MSP well before peak season. They also bumped up frequencies on MSP to San Diego, which is one of the cheaper picks on this list. See the current schedule in Sun Country’s announcement.

Best Destinations with Cheap Flights from MSP in 2026

Looking for destinations with cheap flights from MSP? Experience the vibrant music scene of Nashville, known for its live entertainment and Southern charm. Explore San Juan, Puerto Rico, where historic forts, stunning beaches, and rich culture await. Visit Boston to walk the Freedom Trail, admire historic architecture, and enjoy world-class seafood. Relax in Montego Bay, Jamaica, with its crystal-clear waters, tropical resorts, and lively atmosphere. Whether you’re after music, history, or beachside relaxation, these destinations offer budget-friendly escapes from MSP.

✈️ How I catch these sub-$250 MSP fares before they sell out

Most of the deals on this list (like those sub-$210 Sun Country runs to Miami and San Diego) come and go fast, so I let Going’s Premium plan ($49/year) do the watching for me. It’s how I grabbed a $189 roundtrip out of MSP last fall without refreshing Google Flights for weeks. If you’d rather fly up front, their Elite tier ($199/year) also pings me when business and premium economy fares drop on longer hauls.

✈️ How I Fly for a Fraction of the Price (Even Business Class)

Airfare keeps climbing, but I almost never pay full price. Going.com emails me roundtrips to Europe for under $350. With Elite, you’ll even see business class to Europe for ~$1,700 (deals you won’t find on Google Flights).

Planning a big trip? Elite members save up to $2,000 on a single international business-class ticket. I’ve seen nonstop biz to Scotland for $1,250.
