💡 My 2026 Strategy: Look for the new direct routes from budget carriers. Spirit Airlines recently launched service from Fort Lauderdale (FLL), and Breeze Airways now connects Orlando (MCO) and Tampa (TPA) directly to Key West. I recently saw fares for under $100 roundtrip on these routes during September (hurricane season risk, but cheap!).
If you can’t find a deal directly into Key West, fly into Miami (MIA) or Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and rent a car. The drive down the Overseas Highway is a bucket-list experience in itself, taking about 3.5 to 4 hours.
