Look, everyone says Europe in July is expensive. And yeah, most places are. But after weeks of stalking flight deals (and testing every possible route combination), I’ve found spots that won’t require a second mortgage. Last summer, I scored a $500 round trip to Athens and spent mornings eating fresh figs at local markets before escaping to uncrowded beaches in Vouliagmeni.

From the electric energy of Mexico City’s Roma neighborhood (where I just booked another trip for under $300) to the stunning coastal towns along Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, these are the best places in July that are still weirdly affordable. I’m not talking theoretical deals. Every spot on this list has flights I’ve personally tracked and found for way less than you’d expect. Let me show you exactly where to look.

#1 tip for finding cheap flights in July

Looking for cheap flights to fly in July? Before diving into all the top cities and airports to fly to in July, I want to share a quick tip on how to save money on airfare.

For the past 5 years, I’ve used Scott’s Cheap Flights (now called Going) to get amazing flight deals. All you have to do is enter your home airport and where you want to go, and from there, they’ll send you mistake fares and other ridiculously cheap flight deals. And the coolest part? It’s 100% FREE! In 2024, I’ve saved thousands of dollars from their email alerts. This includes most recently, a $185 roundtrip fare from Boston to Los Angeles.

There’s a free and a premium version – the free one has pretty much everything you’ll need. Though if you’re like me and travel a lot, it’s worth upgrading to the paid version for $49 per year. I recommend signing up for the free trial (you can cancel at any time) to try it for yourself. And if you like it, use my coupon code JON20 to save 20%!

Now without further ado, here are the best flights in July in 2025.

Venice Beach transforms into the ultimate people-watching spot where street performers, skateboarders, and muscle-bound locals create the quintessential LA beach scene straight out of the movies. The Griffith Observatory offers those classic city views (and yes, that famous Hollywood sign) without the hiking required for other viewpoints. Santa Monica Pier gives you that perfect sunset ferris wheel shot for your Instagram, while nearby Malibu beaches like El Matador feature dramatic rock formations and way fewer tourists than the city beaches.

The red exterior of The Temple Bar pub in Dublin.

Temple Bar district is packed with traditional pubs where live Irish music spills onto the streets, while the stunning Trinity College Library houses the famous Book of Kells in a room that looks straight out of Harry Potter. Take a stroll through St. Stephen’s Green where locals sunbathe and picnic during the rare sunny days, or visit the Guinness Storehouse where the rooftop gravity bar offers 360° city views with a perfect pint.

✈️ My #1 Hack for Cheap Flights:

If you’re not using Going.com, you’re probably overpaying for flights. I’ve scored roundtrips to Europe for under $300 - and I never would’ve found them on Google Flights.

Their free version is great, but Premium is where the real magic happens. I recommend doing the 14-day free trial. And right now, you can get 25% off Premium or Elite with my code: JON25.

Seriously, it’s the best travel upgrade I’ve ever made.

5. Havana, Cuba ($280–$390 roundtrip)

  • 🛫 Airlines: JetBlue, American, Southwest (usually nonstop or with 1 stop)
  • 🔥 Perfect for: History enthusiasts, classic car lovers, music fans, cultural explorers

Havana is seriously mind-blowing in July when tourists thin out but the weather’s still perfect. This place is like stepping into a time machine where internet barely exists and every street looks like a movie set.

Classic red cars in front of El Floridita bar in Old Havana.

Old Havana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, feels like walking through a living museum, where locals chill in doorways of 500-year-old buildings and live salsa music pours from every other bar. The Malecón seawall turns into the ultimate hangout spot at sunset, where everyone brings drinks and speakers for impromptu dance parties. And then there’s Plaza de la Catedral that turns into an outdoor salsa spot at night where locals will definitely pull you in to dance even if you have zero rhythm.

For the cheapest flights, book through JetBlue or American which offer direct flights often dipping below $300 roundtrip when reserved 8-10 weeks ahead. Southwest occasionally offers competitive connecting fares through their Florida hubs.

6. Milan, Italy ($520–$670 roundtrip)

  • 🛫 Airlines: ITA Airways, Delta, American (usually nonstop or with 1 stop)
  • 🔥 Perfect for: Fashion enthusiasts, design lovers, food aficionados, architectural admirers

Milan is low-key awesome in July when summer sales hit and the fashion capital actually becomes affordable. This city gives perfect summer vibes without the crazy tourist crowds of Rome.

The illuminated Duomo di Milano cathedral at night.

Duomo di Milano is basically the ultimate cathedral with its forest of spires and rooftop terraces where you can capture insane photos of the city skyline. The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II nearby is literally the world’s most beautiful shopping mall, with its massive glass dome and mosaic floors housing designer stores and historic cafés. Don’t miss Navigli that turns into one big outdoor party when bars and restaurants spill onto the canal streets.

ITA Airways (formerly Alitalia) consistently offers the best direct flight deals, with prices occasionally dipping below $550 roundtrip from East Coast hubs when you book 10-12 weeks ahead for midweek travel.

Seattle completely transforms in July when the clouds finally part to reveal perfect sunny days and breathtaking mountain views that locals wait all year for.

The neon signs of Pike Place Market in Seattle at night.

Pike Place Market is touristy but worth it for watching fish-throwing guys and scoring amazing street food from local vendors. Gas Works Park gives you those postcard skyline views across Lake Union where locals hang with blankets and beers all day. Capitol Hill is where you’ll find the coolest bars, vintage shops, and that perfect coffee shop vibe Seattle is famous for.

8. San Jose, Costa Rica ($190–$310 roundtrip)

  • 🛫 Airlines: Spirit, JetBlue, United (usually nonstop or with 1 stop)

Most people crash in San Jose for a night then bounce to places like Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean side where the vibe is total island life with reggae bars and black sand beaches. La Fortuna has those iconic hot springs where you can soak in volcanic water while tropical birds fly overhead. The afternoon rain showers in July actually make the waterfalls like Rio Celeste even more epic with that unreal blue color.

Spirit consistently offers the rock-bottom prices, with fares frequently dipping below $200 roundtrip from Florida hubs when you book 6-8 weeks ahead. JetBlue provides a more comfortable experience with competitive pricing from their East Coast hubs.

9. Faroe Islands ($480–$620 roundtrip)

  • 🛫 Airlines: Atlantic Airways, SAS, Norwegian (usually nonstop or with 1 stop)
  • 🔥 Perfect for: Nature photographers, hiking enthusiasts, off-the-beaten-path explorers, waterfall chasers

Faroe Islands is literally the most epic summer destination you’ve never considered, with July flights that make this remote Nordic paradise surprisingly accessible. The islands offer those mind-blowing landscapes you’ve seen on Instagram with far fewer tourists than Iceland and prices that won’t completely destroy your bank account.

The Mulafossur Waterfall flowing into the ocean in the Faroe Islands.

Múlafossur Waterfall is that iconic spot where water plunges directly into the ocean beside a tiny village, creating the perfect photo that looks completely unreal in person. The hike to Lake Sørvágsvatn gives you that famous optical illusion where a lake appears to float hundreds of feet above the ocean (it’s called the “floating lake” for a reason). Gjógv village features a natural sea gorge with dramatic cliffs and traditional grass-roofed houses that look straight out of a fairytale. The crazy part is you might be the only tourist there even in peak season.

Atlantic Airways offers the only direct flights from Europe, but connecting fares through Copenhagen on SAS frequently drop below $550 roundtrip from major US hubs when booked 12-14 weeks ahead.

July in the Faroe Islands offers a distinct fusion: pristine scenery, perpetual summer daylight, and cost-effective flights.
