#1 tip for finding cheap flights from Las Vegas

Looking for cheap places to fly from Las Vegas? Before jumping into all the coolest cities and airports to fly into, I want to share a quick tip to save money on airfare.

For the past 3 years, I’ve used Scott’s Cheap Flights (now called Going) to find cheap flight deals. It’s free and super easy to use. All you have to do is enter in your home airport (i.e. LAS, VGT, or HSH) and where you want to go. From there, they’ll send you mistake fares and other ridiculously cheap flight deals.

In 2022 alone, I saved thousands of dollars thanks to their email alerts. This includes most recently, a $485 roundtrip fare from Omaha to London. On average, I save about $300 roundtrip on selected flight routes. So, I’m a huge fan and couldn’t recommend them more!

If you’re a frequent flier, consider getting their premium version. It costs $49 per year, but it will easily save you hundreds (or thousands) of dollars if you fly just 1-2 times. I recommend signing up for the free trial (which you can cancel at any time) to try it out for yourself. And if you like it, use my coupon code JON20 to save 20%!

Other considerations when finding cheap places to fly from Las Vegas

To find the cheapest places to fly from Las Vegas, I focused on major airports in North America, South America, and Europe. Sure, you can occasionally find flight deals to other continents. However, more likely than not, these destinations will have the cheapest fares and are the most accessible from Las Vegas.

Note that flight prices from Las Vegas can vary immensely throughout the year. For example, a flight to New York City might cost more in the summer than in the winter. If you’re looking to visit Europe, you’re better off traveling during the off-season, which is typically between Jan-April. Although the price of a roundtrip fare may vary, the cheapest destinations from Las Vegas should remain consistent, regardless of when you’re flying.

For the purposes of this article, I removed nearby destinations from this list. This includes cities like Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Diego, and Salt Lake City, which have affordable flight deals from Las Vegas, but are within driving distance. Instead, I focused on flights from Las Vegas to destinations further afield.

From domestic to international journeys, here are the 13 cheapest places to fly from McCarran International Airport in 2023.

Looking to save BIG on airfare? I recommend signing up for Dollar Flight Club. Thanks to DFC, I’ve saved $5,000+ on travel in 2024…so I couldn’t recommend it more!

Generally, booking 2-3 months in advance can give you a good deal. However, this can change depending on the destination and time of year.

What’s the best day of the week to find cheap flights from Las Vegas?

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are often cited as the best days to find deals, but this can vary.

What are the cheapest days to fly in and out of Vegas?

The cheapest days to fly can vary based on a multitude of factors, including seasonality, holidays, and major events. However, generally speaking, for many destinations including Las Vegas:

  1. Midweek Flights: Flights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays tend to be cheaper than flights on weekends. This is because many travelers prefer to travel on weekends, leading to higher demand and, consequently, higher prices.
  2. Avoiding Major Events: Las Vegas hosts numerous conventions, trade shows, and special events throughout the year. During these times, flight prices can surge. If you’re flexible with your dates, it’s a good idea to check the city’s convention calendar and plan your trip during quieter periods.
  3. Off-Peak Seasons: The summer months (especially July and August) can be scorching hot in Las Vegas, making it a less popular time for tourists. This can sometimes result in cheaper flight prices. Similarly, the period between major holidays, like the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas, can also offer deals.
  4. Booking in Advance: While last-minute deals can occasionally be found, booking your flight several weeks in advance usually offers better prices.

Does the time of year affect the cost of flights from Las Vegas?

Absolutely! Off-peak seasons (like fall for many destinations) might offer better prices compared to peak holiday seasons.

While booking in advance is usually cheaper, airlines sometimes offer last-minute deals on unsold seats. It’s a bit of a gamble but can pay off.

Are round-trip flights from Las Vegas cheaper than one-way?

In many cases, yes. Airlines often offer better deals on round-trip tickets, but it’s always a good idea to compare before booking.

Do flight prices from Las Vegas vary a lot throughout the year?

Yes, especially around holidays, big events, or peak tourist seasons in the destination city. Always check prices well in advance if you have fixed travel dates.
