You’ll also have air conditioning and a TV, and guests mention a handwritten welcome note waiting at check-in.
Outside, the setup is made for couples, with a private hot tub and sauna surrounded by forest and a fire pit for the evenings. Guests also love the his-and-hers outdoor shower, and one recommends using it right after a sauna session. The screened-in porch would be my favorite spot on the property, especially on a cool October night with the fire going.
The trail system on Mount Agamenticus starts right off the road, and the beaches in Ogunquit and York are a short drive away. One guest used the cabin as a base for day trips to the White Mountains, Portland, Kennebunkport, and Portsmouth, and the Outlets at Kittery are close by too. Beaver Creek is an off-grid A-frame built in 2023 on 90 wooded acres in Chesterville, powered by solar panels with battery and generator backup. The main cabin has a king bedroom downstairs, and the upstairs loft holds a queen plus a bunk bed (full on the bottom, child-size on top), with a pull-out queen sofa in the living room. You’ll also find a full kitchen with a dishwasher and a Nespresso machine stocked with Starbucks pods, along with a wood stove and a spa-like bathroom with double concrete sinks and a cedar shower.
The Maine-made cedar hot tub is wood-fired, which means you light and feed the fire 3 to 4 hours ahead to bring the water up to between 95 and 105 degrees. Four L.L. Bean and Old Town kayaks come with the stay, along with a loaner truck to haul them, and the property even has its own 3,000-foot airstrip, an unusual perk for an Airbnb. I’d happily spend a crisp fall evening tending that fire and soaking under the trees while the owls call overhead.
Trails on the property lead to a creek and the 18-acre Beaver Pond, and the Parker Pond Headlands trails are 5 minutes away, with more than five lakes in the 30 Mile River Watershed within a 5 to 10 minute drive. Scapes Cafe and Bakery is 10 minutes away for brunch, and the college town of Farmington has plenty of restaurants 20 minutes away. Pets aren’t allowed, and if your group is larger than six, the separate bunk cabin gets added to your booking at $40 per bunk.
