2. Hackett’s Orchard – South Hero, VT
If you’re looking for a traditional apple orchard in Vermont, look no further than Hackett’s Orchard. This family-run farm offers 47 varieties of apples, mouthwatering cider donuts, vegetables, pumpkins, apple cider, maple syrup, and so much more. This is a popular orchard in VT for families with kids, as there’s a playground and plenty of space to enjoy a picnic with your loved ones!
If you run out of time on your New England fall road trip, don’t fret! Hackett’s can ship most of the products they sell, so you’re in luck. Though I would make it a point to visit – you won’t want to go apple picking in Vermont anywhere else! I recommend staying at an Airbnb nearby so you won’t miss out on the action.

3. Liberty Orchard – Brookfield, VT
Pick your own apples in Vermont from this beautiful family-owned orchard in Brookfield. Liberty Orchard specializes in seven disease-resistant varieties of apples, including their signature Liberty apple.
With its small apple trees, this is the perfect apple picking orchard in Vermont for young children. The prices are reasonable, too, at just $12 per half bushel, and $5 for 4lbs of Honey Crisp. If you’re looking for a hidden gem apple farm in Vermont, this orchard has got you covered!

4. Scott Farm Orchard – Dummerston, Vermont
This is one of the top Vermont apple orchards, hands down. Located in Southern Vermont, Scott Farm Orchard grows more than 130 varieties of heirloom apples, as well as pears, plums, peaches, cherries, berries, and more.
This Vermont apple farm dates back to 1791 and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. In addition to offering a Vermont apple picking experience like no other, this farm also serves as an event venue for community events, weddings, celebrations, and other happenings. You can even spend the night here at a traditional farm stay. As far as VT apple picking goes, it doesn’t get any better than this!

5. Happy Valley Orchard – Middlebury, VT
If you’re looking for some fun apple picking in VT, just wait until you see this one in Middlebury. Happy Valley Orchard is known for its over 70 varieties of apples and fresh cider donuts made daily. Some of their specialty apples include McIntosh, Empire, Cortland, Honeycrisp, and Red Delicious, among many others.
In addition to apples, Happy Valley also sells squash, pumpkins, and corn at its farmstand.

6. Northcourt Orchard – Franklin, VT
Nestled near the Vermont-Canadian border, Northcourt Orchard (previously Vaillancourt Orchard) is a small, family-owned farm that packs a punch. It may be a hike to get to, but it’s totally worth it for its fresh apples, cider, and donuts.
Pick your own apples from the many apple trees strewn around this serene, quintessentially Vermont apple orchard. And to top off your visit, don’t miss out on the homemade cider donuts, perfectly embodying the local flavor of Northern Vermont.

7. Allenholm Farm – South Hero, Vermont
Treat yourself this fall with a visit to Allenholm Farm, one of the most unique orchards in Vermont. Founded in 1870, this farm has been around for seven generations. Today, there are over 25 acres of apple trees just waiting to be picked!

This family-owned apple orchard in VT is the perfect New England weekend getaway for the whole family. Wellwood Orchards is located in Springfield, close to the Green Mountain National Forest and Mt. Sunapee. Everything in the orchard and country store is as fresh as can be, particularly during peak apple season in Vermont!

For a budget-friendly apple picking outing in Vermont, look no further than Mad Tom Orchard. This farm boasts some of the best apples in Vermont, but without the typical crowds that you’d expect between Labor Day and Columbus Day.
At this quaint, family run apple orchard in the hills of VT, you’ll find many apple trees tightly clustered together and magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. The cider donuts are always warm and fresh, and you can’t beat the price tag that goes with them. Pick your own apples in Vermont from this unique orchard in Monkton. Boyer’s Orchard has some of the best apples, pears, and plums around. It’s also features hard ciders, wines, a maple sugar house, and bakery.

13. Shelburne Orchards – Shelburne, Vermont
If you’re looking for a top apple orchard near Burlington VT, you can’t go wrong with a visit to Shelburne Orchards. This apple farm in VT has some of my favorite cider donuts – which is enough of a reason to visit in its own right.
This orchard is nestled on 60 acres of pristine property along Lake Champlain. In addition to apples, they also sell peaches, plums, sour cherries, and table grapes. Be sure to spend some time in the tasting room trying their signature apple brandy, and don’t forget the fresh apple cider doughnuts and ginger apple cider! If you want to bring a part of this orchard home with you, be aware that Shelburne Orchards sells batches of apple trees during late April and early May!

14. Champlain Orchards is a top apple picking farm in Vermont – Shoreham, VT
Enjoy the flavor of Champlain Valley from this family-run orchard in VT. Set on the shores of Lake Champlain, Champlain Orchards is one of the most eco-friendly orchards in the state, adhering to strict Eco-Apple requirements, utilizing solar power, and minimizing its carbon footprint.
This farm is home to over 300 acres of fruit trees with 120 apple varieties alone! Green Mountain Orchards is another apple orchard VT can be proud of. Continuously operating since 1914, it’s one of Vermont’s oldest and largest apple orchards. It’s easily one of the best apple picking places near Ludlow VT, and perhaps in the entire southern part of the state.
In addition to the typical apple products you’d expect to find at a top Vermont apple orchard, this farm also serves apple cider jelly. The views are stunning, so bring the family and kids along to enjoy this slice of apple paradise in Vermont!
