13 Epic Cabins in Dahlonega, GA (Mountain Views, Hot Tubs & More)

by Jon Miksis

Let me tell you about my last morning in Dahlonega. I’m sitting on this cabin deck near the Chattahoochee Forest, coffee in hand, watching the sun turn the mountains gold. Maybe it was the fresh mountain air or the hawks soaring overhead, but I swear I almost canceled my flight home right there.

After checking out pretty much every cabin setup around some of the best places in Georgia, I’ve found the real gems. Whether you want to wake up to mountain views or spend your evenings sipping wine at Porter Creek Vineyards (my personal happy place), these cabins nail it. Fair warning though: once you experience Dahlonega’s mountain magic, regular vacations just won’t cut it anymore.

The Tiny Mansion – Secluded A-Frame Cabin in the North Georgia Mountains

I know, every cabin list has an A-frame on it right now – but hear me out, because this one earns it. The Tiny Mansion is a brand new, architect-designed A-frame tucked away in the North Georgia mountains just outside Dahlonega, built for two people who want to be alone in the woods. You’ve got a proper kitchen, a BBQ on the deck, pet-friendly too, and Montaluce Winery is a 20-minute drive if you need a reason to leave. With a couples-only capacity of two it books up fast – so if the dates line up, don’t sit on it.

Spending a few days surrounded by trees at this glass cabin in Dahlonega is such a great way to disconnect.

Heading inside this Dahlonega cabin shows off a sleek kitchen design with green tile accents and a comfortable living setup.

Modern Glass Cabin sits on 3.5 private acres outside Dahlonega, with two walls of floor-to-ceiling mirrored glass looking straight into the forest. The bedroom has a king bed and a reading chair beside the glass wall, and the living area adds a queen sofa bed and a smart TV next to a kitchen with granite countertops. The bathroom is a wide-open wet room with a huge soaking tub and a rain shower, and privacy shades lower in every room once it gets dark.

Being wrapped in glass makes you feel like you’re sitting in the woods, and during daylight the mirrored exterior hides the cabin from view entirely. Outside there’s a private hot tub for evenings under the stars and a large fire pit down among the trees, and I’d happily skip a night in town to spend it out there. It’s also unusually accessible for a mountain cabin, with zero steps on the property, doorways over 32 inches wide, a roll-in shower, and a roll-under bathroom sink.

You’re 9 minutes from the historic square in Dahlonega, with wineries and breweries 10 to 15 minutes away. The Appalachian Trail is about 10 minutes from the cabin, and cyclists can pick up the 3/6 Gap Route less than a mile away. Helen is 33 minutes out for a day trip and Blue Ridge about an hour, and back at the cabin you’ll likely share the woods with deer and the occasional bear.

3. Hummingbird Hollow

Open cabin living area with a checkered armchair, gray sofa, and kitchen island
Grabbing a seat in the living area keeps you close to the kitchen island, which is great for hanging out while prepping meals.

Honey Bee Cabin sits on 30 acres in the north Georgia mountains outside Dahlonega, with a clear view of Cedar Mountain from the back deck. Both bedrooms have a king bed and a smart TV, and the second one adds an ensuite bathroom and a big window looking out at the mountain. The kitchen has stainless appliances, a dishwasher, and a Keurig coffee bar, and there’s a washer and dryer plus a sleeper sofa in the living room for extra guests.

The back deck is where evenings happen here, with a hot tub open year-round, a grill, a hammock, and an outdoor dining table all facing Cedar Mountain. You also get your own 1-mile loop trail on the property, which is unusual for a cabin this close to town, along with a fire pit and firewood provided. I’d happily start every morning in a rocking chair on the covered porch with a coffee, watching for the deer that guests often spot wandering up to the cabin.

Downtown Dahlonega and the Dahlonega Gold Museum State Historic Site are about 12 minutes away, and Wolf Mountain Vineyard is even closer at 8 minutes. For hiking, the Lake Zwerner Trail (3.2-mile loop) is 9 minutes out and Preacher’s Rock (2 miles out and back) is 14 minutes. The last stretch is a maintained gravel driveway through a red gate and across Tate Creek, and the host’s daughter drives it daily in a Prius, which means a regular car handles it fine.
