The deck holds a four-person hot tub lit with string lights, and the screened porch has a swing and an outdoor couch looking into the forest. There’s a fire pit with a new fence around it, plus a propane grill, and the cabin comes with a washer, dryer, and air conditioning. My favorite version of this place is October evening in the hot tub with the fireplace already going inside.
You’re 6.4 miles from the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway and 8.9 miles from Mercier Orchards, both of which draw crowds once the leaves turn. Fall Branch Falls is 10.1 miles away, Lake Blue Ridge is 13.4 miles, and downtown Ellijay sits roughly 12 miles out, with the Appalachian Trail, the Toccoa River, and the Ocoee River all within reach for hiking, kayaking, and rafting. Awesome Creek Cabin is a one-bedroom cabin between Blue Ridge and McCaysville, built on a single level with no interior stairs. The bedroom has a new soft king mattress on an Amish hickory frame, percale cotton sheets, a walk-in closet, robes, and an HDTV with Roku. The kitchen covers everything but a dishwasher (the cabin is a period build) and comes stocked with a drip maker, a Keurig with pods, an electric kettle, tea, spices, and oils, while the living room has a full stone-wall gas fireplace that stays off May through September.
The creek is the whole reason to book here, and you get 400 feet of bank with stairs leading down to the water. There’s a hot tub on the upper deck with a view of the creek below and open sky for stargazing, a stone patio fire pit right beside the water with chairs and a small cooler, a screened porch with a dining table, and a lower deck with a porch swing, bar countertop, and Weber gas grill. My favorite detail is that the creek is loud enough to hear from every one of those spots.
Downtown Blue Ridge is 6 miles out for shopping and restaurants, with Bear Claw Vineyards and Winery at 2.9 miles and Mercier Orchards at 4 miles. The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway is 6.2 miles away, the Aska Hiking Trail System is 10.9 miles, Blue Ridge Lake is 12 miles, and Fall Branch Falls is 17.8 miles. Firewood isn’t supplied for the fire pit (fire starters and lighters are), so grab a bundle at the Walmart Supercenter 5.5 miles down the road on your way in.
